The Frank E. VanLare Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) provides wastewater and stormwater treatment for over 500,000 people in Monroe County, including the City of Rochester and neighboring suburbs. It is permitted to treat an average of 150 million gallons per day (MGD), and has the capacity to handle over 600 MGD during storm events.

Attendees will tour of all of the major WRRF processes, including the various stages of the wastewater treatment and solids handling trains. Other tour highlights may include (subject to time and operational constraints) the Combined Sewer Overflow Abatement Program (CSOAP) control center, the Monroe County Environmental Laboratory, and one of Monroe County's active composting sites, where yard debris is mixed with "zoo poo" from the animals at Seneca Park Zoo.
